Yes, this does happen waaay in the North, but I’m afraid that this will reinforce the notion in the U.S. (I’m Canadian) that Canada is a deep freeze without any other seasons. Our winters are longer than many american cities (which we accept in return for no hurricanes, few tornadoes and no earth quakes), but that’s the biggest difference.
Just to clarify…back to my igloo.

I read the article, and after seeing the show Ice Road Truckers last year, I must say that these guys are real brave to do this kind of work, and i praise them. Yet i’m afraid thta Hollywood will try to glamorize this just like they have done everything else and end up turning the job into a farce. How long until a big screen movie hits the theaters, and then any clown with a license tries to drive on the ice and lose his life?

Still I admire these guys for having the nerve to do this, especially when all they are doing is to try and feed their families. Maybe they can show some of the black-ribbon hot shots how to drive, and drive safely.
