Text Messaging System to Help Canadian Motorists Avoid Radar

Speeders in Canada are relying on cell phone technology and a new service to maintain their high-speed ways while avoiding police intervention.

The Montreal-based SOS Ticket designed a monthly subscription system to aid speeding motorists in radar detection. The system works by motorists texting the company of radar whereabouts, then the company forwards a text message to its subscribers – for a $19.99/month charge, of course.

This type of alert system is legal in Quebec, while radar detectors are not. The difference according to the provincial insurance board is that radar detectors determine whether a radar is active and the SOS Ticket system simply sends out a warning to drivers.

SOS Ticket founder, a former police officer, Alfredo Munoz says the system will promote highway safety. He said, “When people will get the alert, they will slow down and that is good for everyone on the road.

Great idea! Texting and driving is so much safer than radar detectors. Idiots. Maybe if they paid attention to the road instead of their phones, they could avoid the radar safely and for free.
