Report: Details on McLaren F1 Successor Trickling Out
If CAR is to be believed, McLaren is hard at work on a V-8 successor to its storied F1 supercar.
Internally dubbed P11, the two-place coupe is slated to hit roads in 2010. If the lightweight car gets eight cylinders as expected, it will be down a full four cylinders on the Nineties supercar icon.
The rendering shown on the company’s website points to a mid-engined configuration with a design that looks outwardly similar to cars like Porsche’s Cayman and the Farboud GT.
No word yet on what the drivetrain layout will be like, weight targets, or whether McLaren will employ forced induction to reach its power goals.

Oh man, I'm getting excited. Over 10 years on, the Macca F1 is still the most interesting and exciting supercar to me... I just hope that this one can dethrone it!

Why is it codenamed P11?

Looks like Mclaren stold something more than just Ferrari F1 information...the front end looks like the new F430 and from the middle to the back looks defenitely like a porsche...even the wheel rims look like those on the porsche GT...oh and judging by what the aero AC achieved with their v8, Mclaren better pull off something like that...still the design doesn't seem to beat that of the original Mclaren F1.
