Question of the Day: Which Auto Race Would You Have Liked to Run In?
With the first event of the Formula One calendar almost here, we’ve got a little case of racing on the brain. The impending Grand Prix has gotten us to wondering and talking about our racing dreams. If you could pick one auto race, anytime anywhere to have participated in, which would it be? Which circuit? Which series? Leave us your thoughts in comments.
If you’ve got an idea for Question of the Day, a funny photo for Caption It, or just want to share a news tip, let us know at windingroadtips@gmail.com

The Mille Miglia in 1955, riding with Moss.

Since this asked for a specific race, rather than a series, here are a few:
The Pikes Peak Hill Climb (before they paved half of it, !@#$% Sierra Club).
Paris Dakar Rally
Any Swedish WRC Rally in the winter.
That ought to do it for me.

Nürburgring Nordschleife, doesn't matter what race. The Track is the important thing here. Had the pleasure of being a passenger in an '84 Mustang GT running full tilt on the Nordschleife in 1986. What a rush!!

The 1968 London to Sydney Marathon - I'd have chosen a BMW 2800.

pikes peak, back down again. quick pitstop. Street rally to the baja in mexico, then Mcdonalds, another pitstop, maybe dunkin donuts, then......Baja. Haha.
It is too bad heterosexuality left automotives. My race isn't possible. Keep lying, not even truly trying.
It would have to be a car with awd, low cg..I can almost think of an almost one...

1967 Belgian Grand Prix (driving an Eagle, of course)
Any snow-covered Monte Carlo Rally during the 1960's (driving a Mini Cooper, Saab 96 or Citroen DS)

Any one of several Mile Miglia's that David E. Davis Jr. has been in.
Matthew Metoyer
Any year of the Nürburgring Nordschleife with an F1 car; Any year of the Monte Carlo rally (snow sounds good too); The Mille Miglia with a Mercedes; Le Mans with a Porsche 917; The Targa Florio with a Porsche 908; Any Belgian GP in an F1 car prior to 1978... That's all I can think of at the moment, I'm sure there are others!
Steve
F1. Spa. In the Eagle or Schumi v. Hakkinnen.

The 12 Hours of Sebring driving #65 Chaparral in the 60's.

1960 Grand Prix du Monaco. I think that's the one where Moss in his non-works Lotus vanquished the Ferraris; Gurney and Bonnier pedaling hard in their Porsches, trying to keep up? Nothing can match the 1.5 litre formula days for me, and nothing can match the color and excitement of Monaco.
Alan in Victoria
Indy, 35 or so years ago, in an Eagle.
