Video: Jenson Button Laps The Nurburgring In A Civic Type R

We’ve been asleep at our Honda wheel when it comes to the incredible website the company built for their F1 team. One of the recent features the site published is a lap in a Civic Type R with F1 pilot Jenson Button. It’s cut into two parts, with the first (above) more of a preview and the second (after the jump) containing the lap.

One thing you’ll notice is how incredibly quiet it is inside the Type R. Are they actually moving?

The helmet mics are the reason the car sounds are so muffled. Imagine trying to catch their conversation with an open mic in the cabin…it’d be impossible. BTW, I really like Jenson Button now. Seems like a real nice guy.

Hrm…It’s nice observing Mr. Button’s overall warm demeanor, but other than that, the video is pretty whack. There was no emphasis on conveying a sense of speed other than looking at the stupid speedo. Pretty lame…

As an FD2 Type R owner, I can attest to the quietness of the car. I am thoroughly satisfied with my purchase.
