Participation in vintage motorsports may not be financially feasible for many of us, but many more can foot the bill from Scalextric for the next best thing. This Spanish slot-car enthusiast has compiled a rather awesome video of car-to-car footage complete with a badly dubbed, but kind of hilarious, engine noise soundtrack. Have a look at the clip above and then clear out a space in your basement, you’re going to want a track by the end.

I used to love slot cars. It was one of my favorite things to play when I was boy.

That’s pretty cool. Thanks. I needed something lighthearted like this today. Makes me wonder how it was made.. Looks like the camera was attached to a car following closely in the other lane. Despite the bad dubbing.. it works. Good job.

35 years later i began collecting slot cars again. i figure it’s the nearest i’ll ever get to owning a Birdcage Maserati or a Cooper-Climax. Despite the yards and yards of track i own, they make lovely static models/living sculpture; i don’t bother setting up the track anymore…

Isn’t that soundtrack lifted straight off the short movie Rendezvous? … the supposed blast around the streets of Paris at dawn in a Ferrari.

Paul, I think the soundtrack is from a recording of a ‘67 275 GTB made by JL Prod. I bought that cd back in the early 90’s. I’m not at home right now, so i can’t check.

Not that such things are critical, of course. Except for those of us who like V12s :)
