Trulli Thinks Teams May be Skirting F1’s Electronic Aid Ban

Most of the new rules and restrictions set to be in place for the start of the 2008 Formula One season, are designed to put more of an emphasis back on the driver’s ability. One of the most high-profile changes to that end is the banning of electronic aids, especially traction control, from F1 cars.

But with a technology ban comes the chance to sneak around it, and Toyota’s Jarno Trulli mentioned to the magazine Autosprint recently that he thinks the sneaking may have already started.

(Click through the jump to find out what Trulli’s worried about.)

Trulli believes that this ban may lead to some unscrupulous behavior by other teams. After watching the new generation of F1 cars recently and in earlier tests this December, Trulli suspects that something other than normal development is going on. The possibility exists that some teams have attempted to use illegal forms of traction control and launch control.

Says Trulli, “I’m not saying someone’s cheating, even though we’ve received some conflicting information at Toyota.
