They have the biggest budget in F1 but can’t seem to score podiums. Just shows money can’t buy wins. Hopefully they’ve learned - but I can’t see 08 being a leap year for them.
Toyota’s Formula One team principal, Tadashi Yamashina, has set a 2010 deadline to turn around the struggling race outfit. Though no consequences have been outlined if the losing continues, it’s becoming clear that pressure is being ramped up back at the home office.
Yamashina said that it will be critical that the organization improve as a whole, and took responsibility for the future by saying, “I have been given two more years. So, we will work and fight to make sure we prove ourselves in the 2008 season.”

Though accepting that many things went wrong for the Toyota team in 2007, Yamashina pointed out problems with aerodynamics and a team failure to adapt to Bridgestone’s tires, as several key areas of trouble last season.
Said Yamashina, “We can see that our car was not hard enough on the tyres. It is better to be tough on the tyres and be faster.”
Despite struggling since its entry into the world of F1, the Toyota team remains confident that it will be able to succeed in the future, saying that “the team knows what needs to be done to improve our performance.”
Will 2008 mark a leap forward for Toyota racing? Have your say in comments.
