One Lap Of America: #40 World Class Roadster

The technical name for this vehicle is the World Class Motorsports Ultralite, but no matter what you call it, this Lotus Seven-influenced roadster clearly stands out as one of the most unique cars here on the One Lap.

Fielded by Loren Edwards and Kevin Boulton, this particular World Class uses a four-cylinder Honda engine tuned to produce roughly 300 horsepower at the wheels. Since the roadster only weighs around 1320 pounds, it's fair to say that it can move around at a pretty decent pace. According to the team's website, the WC can surge from a standstill to 100 miles-per-hour and back to zero again in just over nine seconds. It also makes for a nifty tow vehicle, as demonstrated by the pair's low-profile trailer that's loaded down with tools, parts, and necessities like rain suits and parkas.

Awesome. Apparently, not everything is bigger in Texas... and that's fine by me. :-)

The lack of a roof wouldn't affect anyone who has owned a 50s-60s British roadster. The roof on my TR3 was merely for show!

I want one. I'll deal with climate conditions...a good rainsuit and a full face helmet will do.

Wow what a cool car.
I can't believe those guys are driving
a home built car in this competition.
How could they possibly compete against the likes
of Hennesey. What a ballsy move.
Must be some tough fellows to endure 4000 miles in
a car like that... I like that... Go Organic Racing.

This car defines power, just looking at it makes me want to go buy one of those cars and race it like them. This car defies physics with its power, light weight it pulls more G's than what most cars do. Just looking at it shows you have to be one crazy sucker to drive one of those.... Good thing I am crazy.
