Kenseth Takes Nationwide Series Race in Atlanta

Matt Kenseth was just able to beat out Kevin Harvick in Atlanta yesterday, taking the checkered flag at the Nicorette 300 in NASCAR’s Nationwide Series.

Kenseth was able to capitalize on what looked like a sure win for Kyle Busch, who had maintained a lead for 153 of the race’s 189 laps, when Busch suffered a front tire blow out with only 24 laps to go. Busch seemed frustrated after crashing out on what looked to be his afternoon, saying, “Obviously we had the dominant car.”

Busch’s failure late in the race gave hope to Kenseth, who managed to get by Jeff Burton on the second to last restart of the race. Busch was harried in the late going by Kevin Harvick, but was able to fend him off for the victory.

“I knew Kyle opened the door for everybody,” said Kenseth. “There was no way anybody was going to beat him on speed. But he kind of opened the door, and we were able to get to the front and take advantage of it.”
