eBay Auction of the Day: 1904 Thomas Model 27 Racer
Built for the Vanderbilt Cup Race around the turn of the century (well, the second to last one) this 1904 Thomas Model 27 Racer represented the pinnacle of motorsport at the time.
Offering its intrepid driver a hairy-chested 60 horsepower through the efforts of a simply massive 12.3-liter straight-six, the Thomas must have provided mighty proof of man’s ascendance from the days of the horse and buggy. The screaming yellow paint job probably wasn’t nearly as impressive to race goers as the sound that the brass-age motor must make, but we’re happy to see that some aspects of motoring (in this case the fact that lairy sports cars often demand brilliant paint) are completely timeless.

That automobile has to be about as cool as it gets.
If I had the $$$ I'd buy it.
Real Thomas Owner
IT's a "PHONEY"!!!!!!! Not a single Thomas part graces it's chassis. It's based on a car that never existed except in an engraving (NOT a photo) in the 1905 Thomas catalog and 1905 ALAM book (and in the minds of Messers Pettingill, Gibson, Munson and, perhaps 'ol E.R. Thomas himself). This car wasn't "restored", it was "CREATED"!!!!! Ask the owner/creator/sellers why the (real - made by one of the most active motorcar buyers over the past few years) $1.1 million bid at the January Kruse Scottsdale/Phoenix auction didn't result in the car's sale 3 months ago!!! Why??? Because the bidder found out the truth about the car, purportedly directly from one of the sellers. Why don't the owner/creator/sellers admit the truth to everyone, instead of trying to perpertrate a fr**d on the ebay community???
