So… where’s the row of small thumbnails at the bottom of the article?
IndyCar newsmaker Danica Patrick, who recently won her first IRL race, is apparently in consideration for a test drive with Honda Racing’s Formula One team.
Patrick’s victory at the Motegi circuit has enlivened talk that the IRL star may be looking towards a bigger and brighter racing career, including running in motorsport’s premiere series. The driver recently made mention that she would love to try her hand at F1, but only if a serious test was on offer.

Said Patrick, “Every driver would love to drive a Formula One car at some point in their life, so yeah.” But she isn’t interested in being part of a simple publicity stunt either. “I was asked to do a demonstration lap at Indy in 2005, and I said, ‘No way. You’re making me a show. That’s embarrassing.’ But I would say that a real test is absolutely something I would do.”
Meanwhile Honda Racing boss Nick Fry says that the team could be interested in Danica’s services though they’re haven’t been any discussions as yet. “We haven’t instigated anything, but if Danica wanted to be test driver then we’d be more than happy to talk about it,” said Fry.

Lets see….. `Danica is under consideration for an F1 test` , yet Nick Fry says `We haven`t instigated anything but we would consider talking to her about it` …….sounds like Danicas` PR person is hard at work …`but only if it is a serious test` - sure Danica
She won one race in IRL and is talking about moving to F1 based on that??? Ummmmm, it may not be quite that simple Danica…….
I dream about this every night. The rest of the dream isn’t appropriate to share here.
She readily admits that she has problems on road courses and more problems with street circuits. She is supremely qualified to race in every oval that is on the F1 calendar!
LOL at ^Steve!
Good PR work i must say…
Will probably never happen anytime soon, but its something that could draw a whole new fan base to F1…
Just dont let Max Mosley get his dirty paws on her…
She’ll have to win a few more races until I believe that she can actually do F1. But if she does go to F1, I think it’ll be interesting to see how she does.
Anyone think she’s wearing underwear in this shot?
A Button/ Patrick team could lead F1 in the “Best Excuses Why We Didn’t Make It to the Podium Championship”
Or perhaps the best “One-Win Wonder” team-up?
To even be considered for an FIA Super License (What you need to step foot in a Formula 1 car) you have to finish in the top 2 of the league in which you raced the previous season. Keep trying Danica…You’ve got a better chance of driving NASCAR (SNOOOOORE)!
If you have to finish in the top 2 of the league in which you raced the previous season to gain a superlicense, then how did Marco Andretti get a test a couple of years ago? I think it’s up to the individual teams as to who gets a test. Tony Kanaan got one after he won the championship.
I would think it’s a strong possibility that Danica gets a test sometime this year. Especially if she does well in the Indy 500. And I also think she should accept if offered. Just the chance to drive an F1 car once should be enough incentive.
Beacause she such a tasty morsel she will never be judged totally on her driving ability alone, and will be looked upon as a high profile marketing tool. I just wish her breasts were a little bigger!
I think she’d do a great job as a grid girl…..
