Yes, you’re seeing this right. That is, indeed, the Aston Martin DBR9 dressed in the evocative blue and orange livery of Gulf Oil. This year, the #007 and #009 Aston Martin Racing DBR9’s will swap out their traditional green livery for the famous powder blue and orange in honor of Gulf Oil’s first 24 hours of Le Mans victory 40 years ago.

Aston Martin will defend the illustrious GT1 title this year against GM’s Corvette Racing Team. In a press release, Aston Martin chairman David Richards hinted the partnership may be destiny. Time will tell.

Does the Aston Martin sporting some nostalgia trump the Corvette? Let us know.

In racing, winning is what counts. The winner trumps the loser everytime, and paint doesn’t matter.
