9-Year-Old Mick Schumacher Makes Karting Debut in Spain
Michael Schumacher’s nine-year-old son Mick made an attempt at a low-key debut in the world of racing, getting behind the wheel for some karting action in Spain.
The German media has already dubbed young Mick “Schumi III” (I and II being father Michael and Uncle Ralf naturally) despite the attempts by his parents to keep his early motorsports action off the radar. The Spanish venue was chosen in an attempt to keep the media pressure to a minimum, with the child being registered as “Mick Betsch,” (his mother’s maiden name) for the same reasons.
Father Michael didn’t attend the race but paternal grandfather Rolf was on hand to watch and council the boy. Mick was piloting an “Alonso Kart” in his premiere, though wearing a replica Schumacher helmet painted all blue. He finished his first two races in tenth and eighth position, with plans to continue on with the next three rounds of competition.

Man, the pressure must be on for him to preform. That must be an uncomfortable feeling.
