Marketing Man Jim Farley Leaves Toyota for Ford
With Jim Press shaking the tree over at Chrysler, perhaps Ford thought it was time to get a little bit of the Toyota touch in its corner.
To that end, Ford has announced this morning that recent Toyota marketing guru Jim Farley will be joining the Blue Oval’s team in the capacity of vice president of marketing and communications. Farley will start at Ford next month, and will report directly to CEO Alan Mulally as the senior marketing officer.
Farley built his reputation for advertising acumen at Toyota while overseeing the launch of the Scion brand. Most recently, the 45-year-old worked as the general manager of the Lexus division, after spending nearly two decades at Toyota Motor Sales USA.

Excellent choice! Whats up with the brain drain from Toyota to companies who are thought to be dead?

He marketed Toyota on eco-friendliness; Ford has an opening on safety--you'd be surprised by how much a small rating improvement can influence buyers.
