Heh. I have never had to deal with one of those. How lucky for me. It sounds pretty terrible: "6 Stalling when cold. 7 Stalling when hot." Sounds like the carburetor thinks it's Goldilocks.

My roomie had an SVO Mustang with a carbuerated turbo four, which caught on fire. That hasn't stopped me from loving the old carb motors, though.

I more or less just missed the carb era, seeing as even my first car in high school ('87 LeSabre) had multi-port fuel injection and three-coil distributor-less ignition. I've never determined if this was a good thing or or a bad thing, but after reading this I'm going to say it was a good thing. Thanks for the info, though.
