Environmentalists can breath a sigh of relief; the encroaching threat of toy car CO2 emissions is about to take a big hit thanks to Corgi.
The famed toy manufacturer has actually said that it has “beaten Detroit to the punch,” by signing an agreement to build hydrogen fuel cell powered toy cars. Corgi, quite rightly, states that it is now in front of the U.S. carmakers in terms of bringing green technology to market. 1/16 scale green technology that is.

Adding an eccentric swizzle stick to this already strange mixture, eminent concept car designer, Luigi Colani (pictured), will design the vehicles. Colani has a history that includes building concept vehicles for BMW, Ferrari, and Mercedes-Benz, as well as wearing only white.
The new line of Corgi’s will be radio and infrared controlled, with the fuel cells coming from Singapore-based company Horizon Fuel Cell Technologies.
Corgi chief executive Michael Cookson calls the move “a new chapter for Corgi International.”

I just wish Luigi Colani would stop looking “into the future” from the perspective of 1983…. That truck is hideous in the background.
