Craftsman Rolls Out New Tool Boxes at SEMA

I'm so jealous you went to the show this year!!! I've been looking at a lot of the pictures on the SEMA Insider website and the show looked like a blast. Some of the cars were just beautiful. I guess they have a lot more than just cars at the show.I had know idea tool boxes were being revealed too!!!

I have Craftsman ball bearing tool carts, they work nicely and are reasonably priced when you find them on sale. I checked out the new AXS ones the other day, they're made of cheap plastic and the message center is just useless, half the time my hands are going to be full of grime and grease, how am I going to mess with that stuff? I have no clue why I'd need leds to light up my tools either, most people keep their tool carts in a well lit shop. I have no idea who brainstormed this mess of a product, Sears would be better of making better quality rollers, drawer slides, and drawer locks.

I bought an AXS tool chest combo because it is built as well as the others but looks cool and has several extras that actually come in very handy. My garage is not very well lit and i really like the pull out lights for illuminating the drawer contents. My workbench is usually a mess so the pull out work surface works nice for quicky jobs or for setting out tools i pulled from the drawers. The biggest suprise though was when I accidentally backed into it with my truck and did not even crack those plastic drawer pulls. They may be plastic but they are tough! AXS rocks!

Craftsman needs to have more detail in what their professional series box can handle. It talks about how it is structure, but wont put it to the test. Mechanics dont want to hear the engineering behind it they want to see a demonstration of how tough it is. Ive looked at one in person, but im not conviced in its durability. Craftsman wants to target mechanics, they need to design a bigger one than their 56inch box with deeper and longer drawers.
