Next best thing to being born with a wrench in your hand!
While most auto parts stores are staffed with employees who can help you change a light bulb or replace a bad battery, we wouldn’t really recommend checking them out for emergency medical attention. But a Cocoa, Florida woman didn’t have much choice when she pulled into the neighborhood Advanced Auto Parts store parking lot, as she was on the verge of giving birth.
A passing customer saw the woman ready to deliver in her car, and ran inside the auto store to look for help. Assistant managers Nicole Laskowski and Christine Hartman called 911, and then ran outside to assist the woman.
(Click through the jump to read on.)
Said Hartman, “I grabbed some microfiber towels off the shelf and ran out there. I wrapped (the baby) up because it’s cold out, made sure (the baby) was breathing, wiped (the baby) off, and cleaned (the baby’s) face and mouth. That was it.”
The quick actions of Hartman were no fluke; she is currently a student at the Cocoa campus of Brevard Community College, where she’s studying to become a nurse.

Who hasn’t delivered a baby at an auto parts store?
Shop Towels, anyone?
I like how she clarified that she wrapped the baby in a Microfibre towel.
Not just any towel.
Fine story. Happy ending.
I worked at “Advance” Auto Parts for about a year almost 20 years ago, and it still drives me crazy that people can’t READ THE SIGN and realize they are not shopping with “ADVANCED” Auto Parts! Look at your own picture!
Makes me want to go buy a car from Generalized Motors.
