The Bigger They Are…: Massive Machines in Trouble

heavy-equipment-in-trouble-hl.jpg

Modern heavy machinery can be almost awe-inspiring to see in action. Massive cranes, huge earthmovers, and even king-sized tractors have the ability to do work in capacities that are nearly unthinkable.

That vast size can look even more intimidating when we see what happens when things go a little wrong. In this gallery of impressive images, those sorts of mishaps are in great (literally) evidence, showing machines that have fallen, broken, or become hopelessly mired. There are a few images here that also show massive machines in strange-looking situations that just happen to be within the normal course of events, while still making for impressive photos.

The full truck dump is pretty common round here.

number 8 of 12 ... that's how we dump the wood chip trucks, nothing wrong there.

The cranes are almost all operator errors. Look how far the boom is out and how far it is tilted over. Cranes lose a lot of lifting capacity when they are trying to lift something a long way away. Finally, there is a big no no in several photos. The outriggers are not out. Do that, and the crane will tip over. This boys and girls is why you pay extra to hire a qualified operator when you rent a crane.
