Tata’s quickly becoming the automotive industry’s biggest newsmaker this year – if it doesn’t already have the title sealed. Tata’s deal with Ford for Jaguar and Land Rover is nearly done.

Now, Tata has bedded down with Alan Mullaly’s former employer Boeing – as the Tata Motors subsidiary TAL Manufacturing will supply components for the new Boeing 787 Dreamliner jet, according to Edmund’s Inside Line.

The company will be making lightweight parts for Boeing, including titanium floor beams. The first batch of 787 Dreamliners are expected to lift off in the first quarter of 2009.
