Shuttered TVR Factory Prime Target for Urban Spelunkers

Most of us around the WINDING ROAD office have yet to try this whole urban spelunking/urban exploration thing for ourselves, as we’d doubtlessly contract tetanus from a rusty bit of fencing… or at the very least find ourselves greasier than normal. Admittedly, one or two colleagues have copped to a bout of light B&E in the interest of exploring Motown’s many abandoned buildings and landmarks, but those of us that haven’t indulged in the practice certainly can’t deny the lure of such things. Hell, it isn’t like those of us in the Detroit area are wanting for derelict targets…

Apparently, the whole UrbanEx phenomenon is a big deal in the UK, and devotees of the practice are all in a froth over TVR’s recently defunct Blackpool factory. The building has been closed up since December when the sports car manufacturer fell into receivership. UK magazine EVO recently did a pictorial on this very subject (though we imagine they did so with permission), but we’re keen to see more of the facility.

Outside of the aforementioned EVO shoot, we’ve yet to see any solid shots of the idled TVR factory’s innards, but a new article in the Blackpool Gazette insists that it’s the “next big thing,
