Roughing it Roadside: TXT 4 Toilet

Chances are you've been there. Taking your favorite road trip or dreaded commute, and then nature calls. It doesn't just call, but uses GPS directions to find you, texts you, and leaves half a dozen voice mail messages.

Thankfully, in Finland, you aren't rushing into the nearest fast food joint in search of relief. Roadside toilets are available, but due to a recent rash of vandalism, authorities have started to require would-be toilet goers to send a text message to open the door. Although, with the availability of contract-free cell phones it remains to be seen if the new method is actually effective. Of course, the ultimate form of SMS toilet vandalism is covering the phone number of the toilet needed to unlock its door.

+Endgadget - Finland's roadside toilets: now accessible by SMS.
