Rock ‘N’ Roll - Jim Marshall Shoots the Nissan GT-R

If you're one who can't get enough of the 2009 GT-R, Nissan's dropped you a Christmas present. Over the course of the last year, the executives at Nissan thought it would be interesting to have noted photographer Jim Marshall shoot key steps in the car's development.
Although Marshall's famed for his images pertaining to rock music, he manages to capture some images that illustrate the passion, drive and work that go into launching a new sports car. Granted, the images of Carlos Ghosn and some GT-R engineers in race suits may only interest the most die-hard fanboy; nonetheless, it's an interesting window into the GT-R.

The photography is nice. The subject isn’t so inspirational. If Marshall was working on a beautifully sculpted car (a la 8C Competizione), I would be more forgiving. The GT-R is a street demon with numbers as stunning as the Corvette Z06’s when that car surfaced in 2005. The GT-R’s shape doesn’t do the rest of the car justice. I hate to go with the Ferraristi, but this car’s exterior lacks “soul.

They are nice pictures, but I don't think the black and white adds anything to it. I'd have preferred the pics in color. Somehow these just make it seem really ancient, especially the pics in the shop. It made me think Industrial Revolution rather than really modern Turbo-slayer.
