HawkEye Gotcha When You Were High

hawk-eye.jpg

Law enforcement agencies are in constant exploration for technology to assist an officer in making more precise decisions – especially regarding the sobriety of a driver.

AcuNetx’s has developed its handheld HawkEye System, which helps detect drug-addled drivers with eye sensing technology. Current standard field sobriety tests (SFST) require the officer to visually estimate the driver’s pupil dilation. The HawkEye records the (potential) perp’s pupils and overlays the recorded pupils with a scale to accurately measure their size.

No word yet on how many departments are utilizing the device, nor any reports on how effective it is.
