Dinner For Two To Go… On The Nürburgring?!

While most of us haven’t tried it, we can only imagine that lapping the Nürburgring with any sort of conviction mandates a certain brand of concentration that lurks somewhere between zen-like and tantric. Or something. To string together a solid run over that many curves over that many miles requires a certain type of driver and a properly sporting vehicle… like a motorhome.
Huh? ‘Ring queen Sabine Schmitz runs her own paid shuttle Race Taxi service around the track for those who lack the temerity to tackle the course themselves. In addition to scaring tourists in a collection of BMWs, she’s renowned for her ability to shift a modified VW motorhome (like the one above) around the course in 11-minutes, which is a time that most of us would struggle to best in a proper sports sedan. So Schmitz has moved the game on to the next logical level, snagging an ancient 55-horsepower Bedford camper and attempting to circumnavigate the ‘Ring faster than two chefs can prepare a meal in its galley.
The whole thing sounds like some elaborate Japanese game show, as if someone’s taken the Iron Chef’s “kitchen stadium

This is the same person that Top Gear had going round the track. She managed to get a van around in just over 10 minutes...
