DaimlerChrysler is Now Officially Daimler AG

benzhl.jpgNo longer content to be saddled with the name recalls their ill-fated merger, DaimlerChrysler’s shareholders have official approved a name change to Daimler AG.

Following the sale of the Chrysler to Cerberus LLC earlier this year, holders of stock in the German automaker were asked to vote for a new company name.

Though voters were solidly aligned behind the Daimler name, many felt that it would be wrong not to continue to honor one of the company’s founding fathers, Carl Friedrich Benz.

The solution to the German nomenclature nightmare? Rechristening the Mercedes Car Group as Mercedes-Benz Cars, of course. As levelheaded CEO Dieter Zetsche points out this solution will honor Benz, even giving is storied surname, “significantly higher visibility.
