Couple Plans Hummer-Themed Wedding In Reno

hummer-church-limo.jpg

Somewhat reluctantly, we’re going to tread lightly through this Hummer of a wedding story.

According to General Motors, Team Hummer’s captain Rod Hall will preside over the nuptials of a pair of off-roading enthusiasts in Reno later this month. Sonya Jefferson and Steve Spencer—Both Hummer owners—are getting hitched in a brand-themed extravaganza that includes a ceremony where the two are to be wed standing in the beds of two trucks. Did we mention they’ll have a three-dimensional SUV-shaped cake, open a Hummer-shaped present, and then head out in their formal wedding finery for an off-roading trek with more than 100 other Hummer owners?

If that’s not enough, captain Hummer (Hall) will marry the two while wearing his branded racing suit.

Yikes.

Money does not equal good taste.

Nevada. It's like the south, but doesn't smell quite as bad.

Vancouver, WA. That explains a lot, lol. Although there are some other spooky towns in the foothills of the cascades, just not with the money. But a Hummer wedding? Come on. And why do they insist their brand be spelled HUMMER? They don't Have CHEVROLET, or CADILLAC. Maybe they're trying to make the name as big as the lame trucks or something. Too bad they don't have a trace of cred left with me since they stopped making the H1.

Andy

"Hummer-shaped present"? What is that - lingerie?

Cheers,
Andy

PS: Apropos of nothing, is it just me, or wouldn't a stretched vehicle like that be really fun to take out to a snowy parking lot and do doughnuts in? Reilly, I smell a story idea!

The Stig

This is possibly the dumbest thing I've read in a long time......

Tom A.

Lemme guess, they'll have clubbed baby harp seals as centerpieces at the reception. That's about the only way they could show the rest of the world they have less taste...

ZeGerman

Let me guess, their wedding cake is also made of McDonald's quarter-pounders with fried chicken on top...

H2 Hummer people are not car people. In fact, they are the antithesis of car people. Therefore, I hope they run out of gas in their stupid Canyoneros as they drive through the bad part of town.

The Stig's Cousin, long lost

this rates right up there with watching race cars with no safety fence, disgusting stoopidity(SP intended)reminds me of my daily drive,, I shudder to think of them in bed together,, good grief, sorry, thought I was gonna vomit

Has the world you live in gotten so sour that people can't have fun anymore? So it's a Hummer themed wedding. Big deal. Good for them I hope they have a long and happy marriage. I have heard of Corvette inspired, Harley inspired, Nascar inspired weddings, why not a Hummer? And to get married by, let alone be in the presence of someone as legendary as Rod Hall, that would be awesome. It's fun people. Lighten the f@$k up.

Hummer Guy » Hummer Wedding is ‘Like Nothing Else’

[...] I think it goes without saying that we’re Hummer fans here – but at what point does it become an obsession? Well a couple in Reno, NV is taking their love for Hummers (and each other!) to the next level. Sonya Jefferson and Steve Spencer, both Hummer owners, are getting hitched in a wedding that is “Like Nothing Else.

"Has the world you live in gotten so sour that people can’t have fun anymore?"

Fun is not politically or environmentally correct. Unless you're supporting a political or environmental agenda then you're allowed to have fun.

Brian

So a Prius that over it's lifetime is actually MORE toxic than a Hummer to the environment as a whole makes you eco ok? This is just a car version of those people doing the "Sci-fi" wedding a few weeks ago that got a bunch of press. No biggie here.
