Beverly Hillbillies: Coachbuilt Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow Pickup!

1969-rolls-pickup.jpg

The other day, we found ourselves perusing the latest DuPont Registry, that super-slick monthly automobile classified ad publication. While not exactly in the market for a used Lamborghini Diablo or T-Rexx trike, the DR is always good for a compelling oddity or two.

The latest issue is no different, as we were quite taken with this low-mileage 1969 Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow pickup truck. The two-tone British Royal Yellow and Black conversion is just the thing for one’s estate gardener to shuttle topiaries too and fro, or perhaps as alfresco transportation for the hunting dogs. In any case, the ad claims that the Roller has covered just 49,000 miles and boasts an Alpine stereo and fresh Cotswold leather thanks to a two-year restoration of the original Foreman Motors conversion.

Priced at $49,900, we can help but think that this is an infinitely more stylish (if less usable) alternative to a Lincoln Mark LT or Cadillac Escalade EXT.

They ought to wait and put it up on Barrett Jackson and let it sell for about $200,000.

Jeff

Agree with you, Stig. There are plenty of people who'd overpay for this.

Is that the ultimate El Camino/Ranchero?

Even an El Camino SS 454 doesn't fetch $200,000.

"Even an El Camino SS 454 doesn’t fetch $200,000" worth of vintage wine.

Unfortunately there are snobs in every section, why not the pickup section too?

I'm with Andy. As much as I'd like to believe this Rollsamino does exist, some of the bricks around the bed area look rather suspicious...
