Just weeks after financial turnaround specialist Domenico Reviglio washed his hands of struggling design house Bertone, a Turin bankruptcy court has appointed three special commissioners to decide the future of the company.

Bertone, responsible for such design icons as the Lancia Stratos and Lamborghini Muira, has been searching for new work since it stopped volume production in 2005. There have been several attempts to sell the company in the past few months, but each deal has fallen through.

Now, the Italian bankruptcy courts have thirty days to decide if Bertone can be saved. The commissioners have the option of deciding to run the company for one year, or that there is no hope, in which case Bertone will be put into liquidation.
