Please stop calling this car a "Dino". The original Dino was a small, relatively inexpensive mid-engined two-seater. This new car is a new type of Ferrari, a front-mid-engined V8 2+2 coupe/convertible, with at least 500HP and a proper rear boot/trunk, in other words a very fast, practical car. The new car will not replace the F430 or any future mid-engined V8 Ferrari; it will be priced somewhat higher than the F430 but well below the 599GTB. Up to now Ferrari buyers have had a choice between a mid-engined 2-seater with very little luggage room and large, very expensive V12s. The new car solves this problem.
Green Flag - More sources seem to think this will actually be considerably less than the F430. Kind of a baby 599GTB. Probably priced around 130-150k range. It wouldn't make sense for Ferrari to make a essentially the same car twice and price it so close together (the 599 costs 260k or so and if this new project costs more than the F430 that means it'll cost at least 190K). This new project (trying to avoid using "Dino") will be Ferrari's "affordable" GT car. This makes way more sense than what you were suggesting.
I agree with Mike. It wouldn't make sense for Ferrari to make another 2+2 (or 2 seater, whichever it will be) that costs over 200k. I'd expect this new Ferrari to cost 150k-170k. Performance obviously wouldn't be as good as the F430, cuz this new fella will weigh more. Interesting to see how it'll stack-up against the new Merc AMG.
Mike, John - Ferrari don't want to produce an "affordable" Ferrari - they can sell all the cars they want at any price they choose to the world's wealthy. They leave the more affordable, lower price cars to Maserati. But not all affluent individuals want/need 600+ horsepower, but most do want a decent amount of luggage space for touring, and some additional occasional seating. Hence a 2+2 format. The new car - probably to be called "California GT" will cost more than the F430 (and its soon upcoming replacement); in 3 or 4 months you'll see that I'm right.
Then again, Green Flag, Ferrari sold Maserati. Wouldn't they be looking to replace the missing model in the line-up? Duh! The new car, by whatever name, will be less than the F430. Guaranteed.
... for the same reason the BMW M5 costs less then the M6. The better performance of the coupe will make it cost more than the sedan (or in this case 2+2).
I gotta say, I agree with Green Flag in respects to Ferrari not really wanting to produce an "affordable" car, and that most sources seem to be throwing in the name GT California. However, what Mike and John are saying does make sense. Especially since pictures of a new Lambo Gallardo V8 have been spotted. Clearly Lambo knows that Ferrari is up to something, pr vice versa. Pretty much all the sources I've read (here on WR, Autoblog, leftlane, R&T, MT) all seem to point towards this new Ferrari 2+2 as being priced to compete with the uber 911's, AM Vantage and this new Gallardo V8.

Looks more like seating for two to me. That was the layout of the old Dino, as well.
