While we’ve been seeing the new Opel Insignia (and probably future Saturn Aura) in various forms of spy photograph for a while now, nothing has been quite so blatant as this latest batch of images released by AutoWeek.nl.

The website has given us fully undisguised images of the car as well as some basic technical specification. The Vectra will be made available with a range of diesel and gasoline engines, from 1.6 to 2.8-liters in displacement. At the top of the line will be a 2.8-liter V-6 making 250 horsepower, though there’s talk of adding a 2.9-liter V-6 diesel at some point as well.

While we still don’t know what would be making the trip across the Atlantic to land in Saturn dealerships, we can expect that it we’ll be seeing the car about a year later than Europe.

That will be a sweet Aura. The current one looks disconjointed. The car in these pics looks a lot more flowing and together. I hope GM keeps that interior too once imported here!

looks great, aside from the chrysler-looking wings on the rear deck. looks like a much more expensive car.

250 hp from a 2.8L, now those are some good figs. where did GM get this powerplant??
and yes, keep the interior as it is, especially the lighting.
overall, looks like a great car.

mo,
Sounds like a Saab powerplant. BTW, my 4 cyl makes 260 hp and 260 lb-ft of torque.

yeah but yours is turbocharged. i assumed this is naturally inspired. i thought at first it is the same 2.8 used in the CTS with direct injection!!!

mo,
Another DI V6 would be awesome. But the Caddy CTS has a 3.6L DI motor.

Indeed, my 4cy turbo makes the same horsepower! Still, I would guess that the motor is the 2.8L GM V6 from the Saab in a DI non-turbo. Just a guess though. Now that I think about it though, the Saab 9-3 Aero has a 2.8 Turbo rated at 252hp, right??

Not bad GM not bad.

mo April 15th, 2008 11:01 PM Link

nooo, i didn’t mean the 3.6 one. remember the older CTS had a 2.8 with ~200hp (which i believe was taken from saab, not sure though). that what i meant, make it DI and you might get that power out of it.

That’s a Camry!

The current Opel Vectra has a 2.8 turbo V6 with 230 hp or 280 HP. So this will be turbocharged as well.
