Report: Hyundai Planning New Luxury Division

A Hyundai executive has revealed that the Korean automaker has plans to launch a luxury division, wholly separate from its current offerings. The new premium brand will initially be launched for the Chinese market only and should be in place by 2010. Hyundai sales executive Young-Key Koo told China Daily in a recent interview that the automaker was targeting the successes of its Japanese rivals with the new premium division. “In 2010, we will officially launch our luxury brand name and logo along the lines of Toyota’s Lexus, Nissan’s Infiniti and Honda’s Acura. But will it sell in Peoria? I don't think the U.S. market can sustain another luxury brand, if they decide to bring it here. Still, hopefully we'll get the same models at a lower price point with a slanted H on the hood.
