great designs. now what would chinese haters say??
Our early arrival to the Beijing Auto Show this morning was greeted by an unexpected downpour. Yet the visit to the Geely showroom was well worth the effort. Though some might argue their cues looked familiar, from the Geely Panda, to the CE, to the GT concept, their whole lineup is so eye-catching that it even seemed to outshine the other carmakers in the room.
Take a look at Geely’s Beijing offerings in our gallery below.

The “chinese haters” (aka, people with perspective) would say that although these bold, if not exactly beautiful, designs are a step in the right direction, Geely still has a long way to go before they’ll be considered contenders. Pretty(ish) concepts do not make a good car company. Just ask GM or Renault.
They’ll need to improve production designs, quality and crashworthiness before they’re viable contenders.
Heavy handed - the mark of amateur designers. Really overstyled. The GT looks like the proportions hold promise, but it’s way too over done with the detailing from what I can tell with the couple bad shots. They are making quick progress, though, and there’s plenty of overstyling in high end established Western brands as well.
I definitly think that these pictures are a step forward from what we saw last year. The progress is indeed coming fast, very fast. Just a few more years, and they’ll probably have caught up with American carmakers.
hell with the car, more Geely girls.
