I see the next Tiburon in the photo.
China’s biggest and most ambitious automaker, Chery, said today that it has produced its 1 millionth car, making it the first in China to do so.
Chery hit the lucky one million with its A3, a four-door hatchback that debuted at last years Beijing Auto Show. The A3 comes at the front of over seven years of hard work for the automaker, who said in a statement that it took nearly six years to produce its first half-million cars. The second 500K were reeled off in the last 18 months as the young company gathers steam for expansion within, and outside of, its native market.
Some will remember that Chery inked a deal with Chrysler earlier this year to make and export cars to the US. Fiat and Alfa Romeo have also linked with the Chinese company to build and sell those Italian marks within China.
Exciting times in what is now the world’s second largest vehicle market.
I see the next Tiburon in the photo.
Well, I’m not surprised. There were a ton of these things in China. My only hope is that as they expand that maybe they can come up with some safer cars. But I’m sure they will.
Sorry Detroit, China just has a younger and hungrier workforce. Those Chinese 9 year olds build one hell of a car. At this pace they will never have a childhood obesity problem. Sorry, UAW the workforce does not need representation to get a 7th week of vacation. All they want is a cup of clean tap water every couple hours. Forget better healthcare, they just want some shoes. The floor of the metal shop is full of sharp hot metal.
P.S.
Just don’t lick the paint.

Lovely, “bil”…I’m sure the Chinese readers appreciate your not so subtle racism.
If you thought Hyundai and Kia ramped up quickly…watch China’s auto industry.
Trust me it’s not racism. And not subtle. When China cleans up their human rights issues let me know. When they clean up their air pollution let me know. When they stop child and slave labor let me know. When they stop killing domestic dogs for fur coats let me know. When they stop stealing copy right material let me know. When they allow freedom of religion let me know. Should I go on?
It’s pretty simple, if they want to be on the world stage, they need to clean up their act. Or maybe they have licked their own lead paint one too many times.
I do agree with Bil. Chinese industry is so profitable because their workforce is incredibly cheap. Let’s face it: technology is about the same everywhere and it’s available for those who have the money to buy it. But Chinese workers doesn’t have the big salaries they should, and their working conditions aren’t updated to western’s standards.
On the other hand, things like medical care & education for the worker’s families are duties already covered by the State, so their salaries CAN be lower. And don’t forget that most Chinese industries are State-owned.
mmmm… maybe I should invest in a Chinese industry.
Bil : Let me know when there is one one country in the world that has cleaned up their acts.
China is already on the world stage and for the most part positive as well. I have been to China, I have friends and relatives that live and work there, so I know the positives and negatives of the country which really is no different from a lot of developing countries which I was born from. China is making tremendous progress, unfortunately its a pity that some peoples opinions have not progress.
Its ashame that “evil” China at least cares about its citizenry enough to have socialized healthcare, unlike my home country which is now the only industrialized country in the world were the citizens are on their own when paying on a ridculously expensive enterprise such as healthcare; (but hey I guess it more important to supply our American Physicians, Health Insurance Salesmen, and Healthcare Lobbyists with: SUV’s, Porsches, Bentleys, Maybachs,BMW’s, Benzes, Rolls Royces, and Audis: so thar we here at Windingroad can blog about how “nice” their cars are.)
China is like the US 100 years ago in development. In America: 100 Years ago an average 1 Black Man got Hung Everyday, Women werent allowed to vote American cars were death traps with no regard to safety, The Presidents had to be in the Klu Klux Klan to get political support, Women had to wear parasols and body covering becuase the “bible said so”(yet Americans complain about the Middle East.) Not to mention that the American poor were worse off than the Chinese poor of today (there was a time when this country was A 3rd World White Trash Hick Joke.) Thats right history before 1970 doesnot matter in the US anymore.
Ducati is right on the money about VW. Modern VW’s are like my ex, Very sexy (referring to Don’s comments about interiors, and exteriors). Though, VW’s are just well POS’s ,(referring to Ducati’s comments about relability). Go back in the News archives on this site and search for VW, and you’ll find out that VW is serious about pulling out of the U.S. market if they do not get their quality together. The main statement in the Board Rooms the Big-Whigs at VW say now are: “We have to focus on rebuilding quality if we are to stay in the U.S. Market.” Also, in my city there used to be 2 top selling VW Dealers, now there’s only one and they are in financial trouble. Now why is that, when that group also has a Chevy and Honda dealer also and they cant keep a Chevy or Homda on their lots for long.

Bill,We need to worry about our own house first before We go and meddle with other countries business. Talk about human rights, the Chinese just like the Americans have a report on human rights every year. It is called the Report on Human Rights Abuses in the United States of America. Filled with nice topics ranging from: Workplace Discrimination, Police Brutaility, Disproportional Death Penalty Sentences on Minorities, Minorty Inner City Poverty, Rural White Poverty, Disproportional Minorty Felons Disenfranchised from Voting, Growing Gaps between Rich and Poor Americans, Native American Land and Resource Rights, Immigration Concerns and many more topics. But hey I work in Social Services, I see this stuff everyday. Think about that before you go off in a Middle American Conservative Hick Tangent.

Hey, smokefreak2003- you forgot our Country’s Egregious Publik Skoolz, who apparently Turn out Quailty capitullization Spelling and Punktuation such as thee fine example you have just shown us. Come on! We all know that our country has real problems. Too bad you didn’t list any! Try complaining about the murder of millions of our future citizens before you bellyache about “Disproportional Minorty Felons Disenfranchised from Voting”. Last I knew, felons couldn’t vote! Yes, although I have a strong tendency to buy Japanese, you will probably just write me off as another “Middle American Conservative Hick”. Btw, discussing problems relating to the lack of quality in China is much less of a tangent (due to this article being about a CHINESE car) than digging up non-issues in this country. *rolls eyes*
Yeah but Blanco you probably are just another typical Conservative American Hick. Real issues like what, Michael Vick, Chinese Made Goods, or some other media hyped fluff to divert our attention from real problems. Come on, I thought that being a society with liberties such as the United States we have the right to choose. Not have government safety and inspection mommy and daddy come and protect us, becuase one of us made a bad choice in buying an inferior product. That is my point Blanco. By the way, I do not know what college you went to, but apostrophe n’ts at the institutions I have attended got deducted points on papers and dissertations. Also, if you are going to crack on my punctuation skills and think you have nailed it yourself, just remember that a comma should go before, “rolls eyes.” That is how I can tell you are a Conservative Middle American Hick, you people think you know how everything should work when you make more mistakes than everybody else.
