Chery and Fiat Partnership Looming
On the heels of its recent announcement with DaimlerChrysler, Chinese auto maker Chery is set to pen an agreement with Italian conglomerate Fiat.
One logical option, according to the Associated Press report, would have Chery assembling entire vehicles for Fiat in China. One would expect Fiat hire a big-name design the car in order to maintain its Italianness, have it built in China, and then shipped to Europe and other markets for sale. Of course, partnerships of this type are nothing new; most recently Fiat has sold their Sedici small crossover vehicle, which is a badge-engineered version of the Suzuki SX4.
Right now the only deal between Fiat and Chery is an engine partnership. In late 2006 that partnership was expanded so that Fiat could buy up to 100,000 engines. With Chery soon to build vehicles for DaimlerChrysler for sale here in our market and this Fiat partnership potentially bearing fruit, the Chinese auto maker is set for a certain period of growth and expansion.

Nuovo modello Fiat-Chery?
[...] Winding Road ci informa che il gruppo Fiat e il noto costruttore cinese Chery starebbero valutando la possibilità di una nuova collaborazione industriale. L'accordo, secondo l'Associated Press, dovrebbe portare alla nascita di un nuovo modello, disegnato in Italia, costruito da Chery in Cina e poi venduto in Europa e nei mercati ritenuti appetibili. La "mondializzazione" Fiat sembra non avere limiti e un accordo di tale portata si pone come naturale evoluzione delle precedenti esperienze in Brasile, Polonia e Giappone (vedi la Sedici). La nuova partnership segue da vicino l'accordo Fiat-Chery per la produzione di motori e si affianca all'altra importante intesa fra Chery e Daimler-Chrysler.Non ci resta che attendere e vedere a chi verrà affidato il design di questo importante modello!
