Brilliance Ready to Bring Wagon to Beijing

brillwagonhl.jpg

So the myth finally exploded: Brilliance Auto is set to debut its Zhonghua Junjie wagon at the upcoming Beijing Auto Show. Designed by Pininfarina, the decent looking wagon likely shares the Mitsubishi 4G93 engine with its sedan sibling. That 1.8-liter four can produce 134 horsepower, with a 2.0-liter version also available.

The Zhonghua Junjie wagon is to be released to the Chinese market by the end of this year. The car will likely be priced around RMB 90,000 – 120,000 (roughly $12,000 to $16,000), a bit higher than the sedan version.

Brilliance China Automotive Holdings Ltd. and BMW Group formed a joint venture in 2003, namely the BMW Brilliance Automotive Ltd. The company engages in the production, sales, and after-sales service of premium automotive products of the BMW brand.

Sharky

Not a bad looking car but are those wheel covers Photoshopped in on the two outdoor photos? And what's going on with the rear quarter panel in the sideview -- looks like it's primered.

Given the vaunted chinese build quality so far, they'll need to Photoshop in some buyers for this wretched beast as well.

I agree there is not much good will in the US toward Chinese product quality, but IF this thing turned out to be reliable, if they bring it here at this price and with this engine (or better yet, a small diesel) they will wipe the floor with the domestics.

yup, nice 5 series front. ohhh wait it is not BMW. the wheels are really weird. about the quarter panel, maybe it is like the maybach where you get a shade in passing in the middle..... isn't the same. i guess you can get fancy things in cheap chinese cars.

When I first saw it, I thought it was a C-Class Estate from the tail lights....

I thought it looked like a Saab, I hope this thing gets a better crash test rating then the car that got 1 star in Germany

It's the lovechild of a Passat and a BMW...
...no - wait - that's a MBZ E-Class roofline...
...um, no - it's a Passat again.

Silly Chinese - I guess that's what happens when your cars are designed by slave labor...

Hey folks, these aren't even the same car (model) in all three photos. The c-pillar and detailing is clearly different in the profile pic compared to the three quarter shots.

These are clearly styling bucks made for review, as they're still sitting on a turntable on the ground. If they build the one seen in profile, and get a little Bimmer help, they could get dangerous quickly.
