Volkswagen Launches Scirocco Website: Is a Geneva Debut at Hand?
Volkswagen has just launched a German minisite devoted to the upcoming Scirocco Coupe, which is leading speculation that the automaker may be bringing the Scirocco to Geneva next month.
A Geneva reveal would follow the pattern VW set when it launched a Passat CC site before that car’s debut at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit, and would add considerably to what is already expected to be a packed show.
Unfortunately, the Scirocco site only gives us the barest of hints about the car that we’ll eventually see; showing only the flash of a wheel, glimpse of a headlight, and a 2.0 TSI badge. The VW group's 2.0-liter gas powerplant probably means something like 200 horsepower for the future coupe, but of course nothing concrete is yet known. Sources indicate that the Scirocco could hit the European market as early as September. We’ve got our fingers crossed that, with the Geneva show, will come a lot more info about the next generation Scirocco.
