SEMA Preview: Cadillac CTS Sport
The bad news for Cadillac’s CTS Sport is the engine is a stock 3.6-liter V-6 engine. There are plenty of visual upgrades, but we’re eager to get more power in one of these sport sedans. At least something to hold us over until the CTS-V gets here.
Instead of more power, we get appearance enhancements like a new hood with mesh vents, modified front and rear fascias, export-model taillights, polished 20-inch rims, and high-performance brakes. Hardly V material, but the 2008 Cadillac CTS isn’t a bad car to start with, so this might be enough upgrades for some people.
CADILLAC CTS SPORT
As the new 2008 Cadillac CTS sedan garners critical acclaim, the CTS Sport concept puts a unique twist on this hot new luxury sedan. The CTS Sport concept suggests a customization theme emphasizing the car's performance character. The show car includes new front and rear fascias, a modified hood, rear spoiler and 20-inch wheels Recaro sport seats highlight the cabin. Performance is derived from a production-spec 304-hp 3.6L Direct Injection V-6 that exhales through a Corsa cat-back exhaust system with 3.5-inch outlets.

I suppose this was inevitable but it is unfortunate. Kip Wasenko's design of the original CTS-V had extra meat on its bones and looked strong. This attempt to do this seems tacked on and out of character (and the engine is the same). I suppose it is SEMA, after all, but from the sounds of this article it's more than just a show car.

Get rid of the yellow calipers! Yellow?

cadillac should consider adding some parts of this to the V. like the hood vents, back-lights and maybe the rims. but overall, as reilly says, this car is out of charecter.

I think the car is great, except for the V6!
Yellow calipers, rear styling, etc all make their impact.

What sad times these are when you hear people complaining about only having 305hp in a sports sedan.
Christ guys, if you really want more you can always wait for the CTS-V or spring for the M5 at twice the price. I would think most serious car guys would be ashamed to drive something that looks like it came from "The fast and the Furious" anyways.

To me, "Sport" should mean better suspension, brakes, and possibly engine tweaks. If I want to ugly my car up, I'll go to JC Whitney and buy the biggest gaudiest spoiler they have and a set of overweight dubs

At least the Sport appears different from regular CTSs. I would have just placed the Sport cosmetics on the CTS-V, though.
I like it.

The Hood seems to over the top. Everything else looks cool.

Turning a Cadillac into a Pontiac? Looks like an uglified G8.
