If Wishes Were Astons: The Aston Martin V-10 Fantasy
Despite the fact that they are undoubtedly a total flight of automotive fancy, we found these renderings of a mid-engined Aston Martin to be strangely compelling. Rumors of Aston building a mid-powered car have been floating around the interwebs since probably the ARPAnet days so you’ll excuse us for being a bit jaded about such a vehicle appearing any time soon. But if the car were to happen, we thing that Aston Martin could do far worse than to contact this Sabaman fellow, who worked up these renderings, as they seem rather appropriate for an Aston of this import. Looks like a 1966 Jaguar XJ13 to me, minus two cylinders and an open top.

Goolsbee, you beat me to it. I had the exact same thought, however, if your going to copy a design, you could do worse. The windshield looks too fast, leading to reflection, particularly for taller drivers.

looks nice. WR should put into account that aston is now owened by kuwaitis, which means more money dumped. doesn't this make a V10 aston more probable??

I didn't know of an XJ13 prototype from the 1990s; just the '60s original. The XJ220 is what I see there, along with some Maserati. I think this is a nice evolution of the Aston design, as the present trend goes back to the DB7 from the mid-'90s. The DBS and Vantage look very nice, but the overall shape is growing old.

The shape of the 911 is growing old, Aston's current designs should be so lucky. Old as they may be they're still some of the best lines in the current automotive scene.

If it's for track, it looks like it's missing air intake ducts to the mid V10. I wonder where it will get its air.
Astons have also always been about the art of masculinity: not doing anything better than the others because its behavior and composure tells everyone that it doesn't have to. It's the embodiment of rudeness and grace, a performance artist.
Having such high expectations, I don't believe this is a good looking Aston Martin. The boot engine cover trails off unfinished, the back wheel arches remind me of enormous hind-legs, the front is heavy with the pony face stretched to mutated proportions, and the lights are too far off the the side. All of the cues remind me of a pouncing frog. This car is sleek, as a frog.
Not to diss frogs, but it's way off from a pony.
