BMW M1 Homage in (Sort of Fake) Production Trim!

The BMW M1 Homage concept is still fresh in our minds and automotively-inclined photochoppers are already reskinning the concept in “production” trim.

Web space FreshTarmac.com recently ran this photo, saying that the image was legit and taken in a hangar somewhere in Spain. The image-maker has done a fairly convincing job of incorporating many of the current M elements into the design, but little details, like the hood bulge on what’s supposed to be a mid-engine car, have us thinking the M1 is less than genuine.

Still, the car looks damn good, and we’d be more than happy if it helped turn BMW toward the direction of building the real thing. Give us your opinion of this “spy” shot, in comments.

Looks like a slightly squished 6 series with a deeper front air dam. Next gen 6 perhaps? And the bulge looks like a styling cue borrowed from the M3….. next M6 then?

That looks to me like an altered E92 M3 and nothing more. To Winding Road: the correct spelling of the word is “hangar”.

It looks cool, I’m not to open about the rims, the hood gills should go, and it’s a little boxy. I think it could have been better.

The homage in Spain
remains in the plane…hangar

I thought this is confirmed fake. The setting is taken from an old Ford GT promo shot, and flipped. This thing is sorta wierd- I’d be much more willing to go after the concept than this ’shopped M3.

Whatever this is, it’s front engined; look at the length and height of the hood compared to the concept…

M1 should be designed as an R8 competitor. Right now BMW has not weapon against the R8.

it looks better than the previously shown one.

This definitly looks better than the orange one they just released. It’s a shame that this is fake, because I much prefer this one, and it looks a lot more realistic for production.

Kinda looks like a 300ZX to me.

Well, the front is photoshopped M3, and the back looks like photoshopped 6-Series. It looks horrible. Who the hell believes FreshTarmac?

I like it as a production concept, but it ends up looking like a Bangle-ized Audi A8.
