For those readers who might have missed it, we’ve had a lot of fun with the Ridemakerz concept in the past, actually getting the chance to pimp out our own Scion xB at last year’s SEMA show in Las Vegas. We’ve got a few one-off Mustang-based Ridez banging around the office as well.
Thanks to the grand openings we’re going to have the chance to chat with Mr. Foose and we thought we would take the opportunity to pass along some questions from WINDING ROAD readers as well. Got a burning query for the TLC star? Want to know what’s next for Foose Design? Give us all of your most pressing questions for Chip, in comments.
Die-cast model makers Minichamps appear to be working on some kind of infant sports car project, as these unbearably cute images have surfaced with the toymaker’s logo affixed. Sure to be a hit with the tween and girlfriend set, (you remember the Muppet Babies phenomenon right?) we’re going to speculate that the new toy cars have bubble-like wheels, and over-sized headlights that look a lot like puppy dog eyes. Enjoy the cute logo gallery below.

They just don’t make toys like they used to, just ask a young Patty Duke. This Remco toy drive-in theater has everything a 1950’s kid could want, toy cars, exciting double features, even Mighty Mouse. Guaranteed not to fall apart most times you play with it.

Participation in vintage motorsports may not be financially feasible for many of us, but many more can foot the bill from Scalextric for the next best thing. This Spanish slot-car enthusiast has compiled a rather awesome video of car-to-car footage complete with a badly dubbed, but kind of hilarious, engine noise soundtrack. Have a look at the clip above and then clear out a space in your basement, you’re going to want a track by the end.
(Not convinced? Check out our gallery of some of Scalextric’s limited edition cars below.)

After countless years on the Santa Monica Pier in California spent ferrying the NASCAR dreams of bouncing youth in 90-second intervals, this French-built, Intimidator spec, #3 Chevy bumper car is up for auction on eBay Motors.
While there aren’t many of us that could provide the bumper car with a functional arena (what does one call the place where bumper cars “go”?), this ever-careening tribute to the lasting legend of Dale Earnhardt would surely make a fine centerpiece in any collector’s stash.

The miniaturization of high technology is something that the Japanese are known and revered for. At the forefront of these efforts are tiny video experts RF System Lab, which has built a camera that is literally the size (and shape) of a Tylenol capsule.
While RF may specialize in the optic needs of the medical industry, the company is also responsible for this, slightly larger RC-12 mini wireless camera. The unit is not only of tiny dimensions but it’s also able to fit inside a snug waterproof housing, for all of your underwater spy cam needs. RF portrays its RC-12 being hauled around by a tiny RC car and a similarly sized toy submarine, though it’s unclear if these methods of transport are included with the camera or just helpful suggestions.
Check out some pictures of the RC-12 camera in our gallery below and tell us what use you could find for it (above board please), in comments.

In a promotional event that borders on the bizarre, Nintendo’s star of countless video game classics, Mario, will be giving away a special treat to a few lucky New Yorkers today.
As an effort to promote the new racing game Mario Kart Wii (as if it needed any help), Mario will be in the area of the Sheraton on 7th Avenue today, between 52nd and 53rd streets, hailing cabs and offering free cab rides for lucky travelers. Mario will reportedly be manning the streets early this afternoon and will more than likely be surrounded by a cadre of Nintendo faithful.
Our Ann Arbor, Michigan offices won’t allow us to take the plumber up on his generous, if slightly crazy offer, but we’d be more than happy to accept a consolation prize in the form of a copy of Mario Kart. Good looking out Mario.

Honda’ s entry into the contest, the striking race car seen above, was created as a throwback to the Formula One racing Honda’s of the past, and especially the 1967 RA 273. The toy car’s basic layout is designed around the Honda H logo, which provides nicely for a stripped down two-pod concept. Between the driver and navigator cockpits lies a massive V-10 VTEC engine that would displace a massive 2.0-liters per cylinder. Don’t get any ideas though; Honda takes special pains to point out that the 20.0-liter racing engine is “theoretical, too bad.
In reality, the super sweet Honda Racer Hot Wheels car will be able to be found on toy store shelves sometime in May and this writer’s desk shortly thereafter. Check out the design in our gallery below or click through the jump to read the press release.
The Wheelman is an upcoming title for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, which offers a Grand Theft Auto type driving/shooting experience, and features the mighty voice-over talents of Mr. Excitement, Vin Diesel.
The game portrays Diesel as some sort of undercover agent posing as a driver-for-hire in the Barcelona underworld (who knew?). While the driving action doesn’t look to be quite up to simulation standards, there does seem to be plenty in the way of jumping, high-speed crashing, and things going boom. The perfect change of pace game for when you just can’t pass a license test in Gran Turismo. Check out some screen captures below.

Nissan’s Peter Bedrosian of GT-R development recently spoke with G4 about the development of the new sports car’s unique navigation and information interface, which was developed with the help of the minds behind Gran Turismo 5. A nice chance to compare Godzilla in real life versus the GT5 version as well. Oh, don’t forget GT5 Prologue hits stores in a scant four days.

It what seems like a natural course of events, Gran Turismo creator Kazunori Yamauchi has confirmed that the complication of vehicle damage may finally be making an appearance in the revered driving simulator.
While the Gran Turismo series has been widely regarded since its inception as the most realistic of all driving games, it has also been famous for not allowing vehicle deformation. Many speculated that this lack of simulated damage was necessary to keep auto manufacturers happy, despite hard-core fans crying foul.
Now Yamauchi says that a damage feature could be available for Gran Turismo 5 Prologue as a download as soon as this fall. We can only hope that a repair shop feature comes packaged with it as well.
