It looks as if Cadillac is preparing to bring drivers the CTS wagon they never knew that they always wanted, as evidenced by these new spy shots of a sport wagon variant from the lens of Brenda Priddy & Co.
Priddy tells us that General Motors will start production of the wagon at the Lansing Grand River Assembly Plant in the spring of 2009. Sales targets for the car will be in the neighborhood of 10,000 to 12,000 units per year, with untold numbers of groceries, camping equipment, and dogs set to be hauled.
Even in this bulky cladding we can’t help but feel that the edgy lines of the CTS will make a handsome translation to wagon form. Have a look at the spy images in the gallery below or click through the jump to read Priddy’s thoughts. Make sure to leave us your thoughts on the CTS wagon, in comments.
American marketing types love to affix the word “new” to things. New and Improved. All New. New Release. New Formula. Hell, even Coca-Cola up and went the “new” route, having somehow convinced themselves that selling the world’s most recognizable and successful product was putting the company at a competitive disadvantage.
So the myth finally exploded: Brilliance Auto is set to debut its Zhonghua Junjie wagon at the upcoming Beijing Auto Show. Designed by Pininfarina, the decent looking wagon likely shares the Mitsubishi 4G93 engine with its sedan sibling. That 1.8-liter four can produce 134 horsepower, with a 2.0-liter version also available.
The Zhonghua Junjie wagon is to be released to the Chinese market by the end of this year. The car will likely be priced around RMB 90,000 – 120,000 (roughly $12,000 to $16,000), a bit higher than the sedan version.
Brilliance China Automotive Holdings Ltd. and BMW Group formed a joint venture in 2003, namely the BMW Brilliance Automotive Ltd. The company engages in the production, sales, and after-sales service of premium automotive products of the BMW brand.

One comment that got tossed around during this test at the Paul Ricard circuit in southern France is that as impressive as this car is, the twin-turbo 5.0-liter V-10-powered second-generation Audi RS6 is perhaps the last of the heavyweights in the well-chronicled German horsepower wars.
The VE Sportwagon can be equipped with a wealth of different engines, including a 3.6-liter V-6 and a 6.0-liter V-8. The engines output ranges from 240 horsepower on the V-6 to 360 horsepower on the 6.0-liter V-8. The Sportwagon has the option of a four-speed, five-speed, or six-speed automatic transmission, depending, obviously, on the engine option. A six-speed manual is available on a few of the engine choices.

More of a project than most of the project cars we’ve yet featured in our daily eBay Motors segment, this 1956 Chevrolet wagon could become a really nice piece for someone with the time, and mechanical inclination make it right.
The ’56 Chevy lines are about as classic as they get in the world of American automobila, and despite the fact that this isn’t the legendary Belair model (despite the inaccurate listing, the owner corrects himself at the bottom of the page), the car holds the promise of being drop dead gorgeous if restored. Said restoration is a ways away however, as the car’s interior has been absolutely gutted, and is currently in a shameful state of rusty decline.
Mechanically the car doesn’t seem much better. The seller lists the 256 cubic-inch Chevy motor as “ready to rebuild,” with the same rather doom-filled description being applied to the Power Glide transmission. It’ll be a labor of love, and we do mean labor, for the right owner to put this classic Chevy wagon back on the road.

Audi has pulled the curtain back on its stylish new hauler, showing off the A4 Avant just a few weeks ahead of the car’s debut at the Geneva Motor Show.
The Avant version of Audi’s premium mid-size offering uses more or less the same mechanical package as the standard A4 sedan, which is no bad thing. But the A4 Avant brings a measure of utility to the line that is only possible with a wagon. The car will swallow a substantial 50.5 cubic-feet of cargo with the 60/40 split rear seats stowed, and even a respectable 17 or so with a full load of passengers.
The A4 Avant will come to market with four engine options, two diesels and two gas burners, with the top of the line being a 3.2-liter FSI V-6 that will produce 265 horsepower. Even lower down the range though, the Audi mills are likely to make for surprisingly spirited driving in such a useful package.

In addition to launching its anticipated new Sonata, Hyundai Motors also revealed the cool five-door version of its entry-level model here at the Chicago Auto Show, the 2009 Elantra Touring.
The compact wagon looks to be a smart and attractive package for a buyer who’s looking for space and versatility, without sacrificing fuel economy, and without spending a whole lot either.
The Elantra five-door comes well loaded with power windows, an adjustable driver’s seat, XM radio, and a remote keyless entry system. Buyers can also look forward to a 2.0-liter four that pushes out a respectable 141 horsepower, while retaining the peace of mind that comes with ABS and electronic stability control.
We’re quite fond of the Touring’s looks too, but then we’re bigger fans of small wagons than most. Tell us what you think of the new Hyundai, by posting your opinions in comments.

It’s no secret that Jeremy Clarkson doesn’t always give the kindest reviews. His review of the Subaru WRX STI doesn’t defy his normal attitude towards things that don’t strike his fancy, either. He suggests that speaking slowly with small words is how Top Gear writes their reviews when the audience is mostly wearing Subaru jackets.

During our stay at the Detroit auto show, we took part in an informal conversation with GM’s car czar Bob Lutz. Although we - along with other journalists - tried our best to get Lutz to confirm the rumors of a G8 sport truck (re: Holden Ute) making its way to America, we were simply told he couldn’t comment on it at all. Apparently, the wagon rumors he could comment on - Australian media outlet GoAuto quotes Lutz as saying a G8 wagon will not happen in North America.
