Honda has been toying with us for a while now about the release date for the next version of the NSX. Originally the car was slated to be revealed at last year’s Tokyo Motor Show, but the bad rap on the Acura Advanced Sports Car concept put the kibosh on that thinking.
New reports are pinning the launch of the new car to the next Tokyo show in 2009, and claiming that the styling of the car has been revised. The new car allegedly sports a new front section with “Chevrolet Corvette undertones,” could go into production by 2010.
Honda’s plans for rear-wheel-drive vehicles don’t end with the new NSX however, the car is said to be the first in a line of new RWD rides that will be pitted against the Lexus, Mercedes, and BMW’s of the world. There are said to be plans for an S2000 type Acura sports car, a RWD sedan, and eventually a luxury offering that will be roughly 7-series size.

When the TSX bowed as a 2004 model, it earned a modest reputation for sporty, agile behavior. Sales edged upward through five seasons, easing past the original target and attracting the relatively youthful audience Acura sought.

Acura has now officially debuted its new 2009 TSX, so we’ve got some live and in-person images to go with the previously released information.
The good news is that from most angles the new car looks to be a welcome freshening of the TSX, updated to an aggressive and slightly edgy standard. The bad news is that the front fascia doesn’t seem to be any more resolved in person than it did in the first images we saw. Acura’s purse-lipped new corporate face is milder on the TSX than its treatment on the new RL, but that and the brick wall style grill will take some getting used to.
Have a look at our live gallery of 2009 Acura TSX images below, and tell us how you find the new sedan in comments.

Honda Motor Co. has issued two separate recalls for its Acura TL sedan. The recalls stem from a problem with the windshield wiper motor and a faulty power steering hose – which due to high temps can melt and leak power steering fluid, which can leak onto the catalytic converter and cause a fire.
The power steering hose recall encompasses 273,000 2004-2008 Acura TLs. The recall involving a circuit breaker failure in the wiper motor involves 129,600 2004-2005 TLs.
No accidents have been reported to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

While Acura just unveiled its refreshed 2009 RL, and plans to unveil the all-new TSX in New York, Japan’s Best Car Magazine is already speculating about the next generation RL. While the rendering looks awfully similar to the Accord which is sold in Japan as the Inspire the big news is what may be underneath. The magazine has reason to believe the car will be offered with a 4.5-liter V-8 engine estimated to have over 400 horsepower.
Sold as the Honda Legend in Japan, the new car is also speculated to have a new rear wheel drive-based AWD system. The magazine says the car should debut for the Japan market in 2010. Enthusiasts and car buyers have been calling for a V-8 powered RL for awhile and this may be just what the car needs to go head to head with Lexus, Infiniti and the European brands.

Thanks to some over-zealous folks in charge of a certain few internet forums, the cat’s out of the bag when it comes to the 2009 Acura TSX. Although the car isn’t slated to be fully unveiled until March’s New York Auto Show, we’ve got a brief rundown of what to expect from the sports sedan’s makeover.
The largest change lies with the TSX’s exterior form, which now looks considerably more aggressive and sporty than the previous iteration. The side day light openings are raked from front to back, and we’re seeing a hint of more muscle from front and rear fenders.
Proboscis? What proboscis? We were warned that the beak on the 2009 RL would spread to other cars, but from what we can tell here, it’s not anywhere as overbearing on the TSX as it is on the larger sedan. We wish we could comment on the rear fascia of the car; as Acura’s only supplied the above photo, we’ll have to wait until we see it in person.

Acura has released the first official image of its next generation TSX sedan today, as well as confirming suspicions that the car will make its debut at the New York Auto Show next month.
The new TSX doesn’t seem to stray wildly from the form of the last car, but it has been clearly updated, most obviously with Acura’s new corporate grill. While the new face is the same basic shape as was debuted last week on the new RL, it seems to find a more elegant home here on the TSX, managing to avoid the “puckering” look that was so questionable in Chicago.

Acura pulled the wraps off of its new 2009 RL today at the Chicago Auto Show, displaying a vehicle that has greater performance, better equipment, and improved luxury over the outgoing car. The new RL is also sporting a whole new look, one that may prove polarizing amongst all but the most die-hard Acura fans.
Though from most angles the revised styling of the RL seems fairly clean and conservative; the rather ostentatious front end treatment of the car, most notably the chevron shaped front grill, could prove a deal-breaker for some potential buyers.

A quick-acting Honda fan has captured a few images of what is believed to be the 2009 iteration of Acura’s TSX sports sedan.
Of course what we get here in the States as a TSX, serves as the Honda Accord in Europe and Asia, and the trim, rather conservative styling of the car seems to reflect that. The next-gen TSX is sporting a nicely aggressive grill and headlight combo out front, and the proportions look especially good from the front three-quarters angle. However the car seems decidedly more heavy and slab-sided from other views.
While official images and specifications for the 2009 Acura TSX are due out later this year, how does this potential TSX successor grab you? Let us know in comments.

The 2009 Acura RL (2008 model shown above) is rumored to be making a debut at this year’s Chicago Auto Show – according to Jalopnik. Rumor also has it, that the new Acura RL will carry the newly designed diesel engine. Don’t get your hopes up; the car still won’t have a
V-8.
Temple of VTECH also got their hands on an internal document from Acura with a few details concerning the 2009 RL.

Honda is planning a diesel debut next year for the U.S., blazing a trail with its premium Acura brand.
Honda CEO Takeo Fukui took the occasion of the Detroit Auto Show to announce that his company’s new clean diesel will show up first in an Acura. Sources are now reporting that the Acura in question will be the redesigned TSX.
The TSX will be launched initially with a turbocharged four, possibly the same mill that is offered in the RDX crossover, with the diesel option added for 2009.
The diesel TSX will be equipped with the same 2.2-liter i-DETC engine that will be offered for sale in the European-spec Honda Accord this summer. Honda has also said that it plans to introduce a V-6 diesel sometime around 2010.

Honda says that they will soon release its first ultra-clean diesels in the US. The clean diesels don’t require a urea tank, instead they produce ammonia in the drivetrain and store it in the catalytic converter. The new clean diesel technology will also meet the same emission regulations as gasoline engines. Starting in 2009, Honda will start using diesel four-cylinder engines in its Acura brand at first. In 2010 a V-6 model will follow. Honda expects its annual worldwide diesel sales to go from 100,000 in Europe only, to 150,000 by 2010 when adding the U.S. market.
In addition to bringing diesels, Honda also plans to bring low cost hybrid models. Honda has struggled to profit from hybrid cars in the past, but says that the new models will be as profitable as their gas only counter parts. Honda plans to produce 200,000 hybrids, half of those marked for North American delivery. Currently, all of Honda’s hybrids are produced in Japan. That could change says Honda’s Takeo Fukui, “We may be thinking about local production [in North America] around 2011 or 2012 when our global hybrid sales reach 400,000 to 500,000 cars a year, but we don’t think it’s all that important.” In addition to the new low cost hybrids, Honda is also planning a hybrid sports car to follow with the new hybrid system.
