Japan Report: 2008 Honda Fit Launches in Japan

new-honda-fit.jpg

Japan today becomes the first market to get Honda’s redesigned, second generation Fit.

The model those outside of America will know as the Jazz and meet and greet in 2008, kicks off locally in 1.3- and 1.5-liter form, with stickers spanning the equivalent of $10,183 - $15,186.

That’s at exchange rate of ¥117.5 to the greenback but certainly for all its re-engineering, bigger size, improved performance, emissions etc, the new Japanese Fit looks a great deal in its homeland.

Honda’s been careful to go with a base 1.3-liter engine with basically unchanged price, while at the top end, the Fit’s now some $1787 more costly. But worth it, surely, and a new and deadly rival for the Yaris, Versa, and friends.

Michael

The current (US) Fit is an excellent car. This one looks better, and with stronger engine should be better. If only we would get that panoramic sunroof.

Austin

Much better. This version seems to avoid looking like an appliance.

Ducati Minor

Could we get a Fit Si?
