Hot Box: 2008 Chevrolet HHR SS Test Drive
By consistently selling more than 100,000 units annually, Chevrolet’s diminutive HHR has defied the critics—and there were plenty of them—who brushed it aside as a Chrysler PT Cruiser rip-off that offered too little, too late. The vehicle’s retro styling, wagon-derived practicality, and user-friendly MSRP that starts at just a pinch more than $17,000 are what have driven sales to this point, but now Chevy has given a whole new class of buyers a whole new reason to consider the HHR. They’ve infused it with a liberal dose of SS, as in Super Sport, including a turbocharger, chassis tweaks, optional Brembo brakes, tuner boy body mods, and spiffy SS interior cues.

Surprisingly the HHR has not hurt sales of the PT Cruiser. These two vehicles are too close in size and technology or lack there of. Evidently there is a sizable group of loyalist who will not cross shop.

The HHR gets nearly 30mpg hwy. I'm considering buying one.

I have to give Props to GM for doing the HHR right!
Especially the panel van option. I which one thing they offered was a rear seat option in the panel van. That would be so sweet!
