Car Buyers and Dealers Looking for Common Ground Via the Internet
Consumer-written reviews of dealerships via the internet are becoming a sure-thing for car buyers interested in purchasing a vehicle. Needless-to-say, dealers aren’t as excited about it.
Yahoo Autos and Edmunds.com operate sites that welcome customers to anonymously share their sales and service experience on the site. The customers are, usually, asked to grade the dealerships in varying categories. Some sites even allow dealers to respond directly to reviewers. While these sites are viewed as offering valuable guidance to car shoppers, dealers are quick to discredit the sites.
According to Automotive News, Kevin Meehan – owner of multiple suburban Boston dealerships - said his company has won multiple factory awards for customer service. Yet, one of his Chevrolet dealerships was ranked among the bottom 10 on MyDealerReport.com due to negative customer reviews.

Meehan said, “How do we know these are real customers? There’s no accountability. You can manipulate the whole market.
