2008 Porsche 911 GT2 Test Drive: The Best Things Part II

Whereas we never want to get crossed up in a Ferrari at Fiorano because there’s the feeling that the disapproving ghost of Enzo is watching our every move, in the Porsche 911 GT2 we have a similar feeling of distant dread just because the car is the all-powerful inbred GT-bloody-2. Stories of the 993 and 996 GT2s are by now legend and they are legend because these cars frequently end up in the weeds after snap-oversteer spins. Considering that the 456-horsepower 996 GT2 built until 2003 had only ABS to help out, the 424-horsepower or 444-horsepower 993 GT2 that ended its run in 1998 had four tires that did the best they could with whatever driver was in the chair.
