‘08 Geneva: Mazda2 Hatchback Live Shots

mazda2.jpg

Mazda is displaying a rather attractive three-door hatchback here in Geneva. We're excited to see the little '2 since the five-door car has done so well with sales and awards. The best part is the rumors of bringing the Mazda2 to U.S. shores. We already know the Ford Fiesta will eventually reach the U.S., and it rides on a Mazda2 platform, but we're genuine fans of Mazda's portfolio and would love the option of a smaller car with a little zoom-zoom in the DNA.

Would you rather have a Ford Fiesta hatchback or a Mazda2 hatchback? Let us know which car is more appealing to you in the comments.

Beautiful car. Awesome color.

In Need of MPGs

I love it...come on Mazda, show us some small-time Zoom-Zoom love!

Mazda2 definitely. They'll give the platform an update every once in a while, as opposed to Ford.

If they can keep it under 2500lbs and have a VW class diesel or better with a 6 spd manual I will have one.

The side view of both is very similar. I like the lower cladding on the Mazda, but the frt and rear ends are a little too "cutsy" for my tastes. The real question is how will they each ride and handle. If the Fiesta handles like the european Focus, I would probably choice the Fiesta. If the US gets an **american** chassis, then the Mazda would win "hands down".

Bring it, Bring it, Bring it!

Given identical (or at least very similar) driving characteristics, I think I'd rather take the Ford. I know that if I could do it today, I'd trade my Mazda 6 for a Fusion, because that tiny bit of extra length and width in the Fusion makes a difference to me as far as comfort goes. The two cars are so similar otherwise that it'd be a wash in the end. But ultimately, it'd end up being a pricing game more than anything...which one is the better price for the same equipment?

Either one! As long as the bring one here!

Ford Fiesta? Good grief! That name is so bad-and Ford wants to sell this car? Not with that name!
