Spotted: Six-Door Ford F-150?!

six-door-f-series.jpgThe folks at Pickuptruck.com have captured what appears to be a six-door Ford F-Series prototype.

Now, to be honest, one of our favorite spy photogs originally had some reservations about the legitimacy of these images. But since the time when they were originally presented with the shots, some additional research has left them with the conclusion that they’re 100-percent legitimate.

Which leaves us with this unusual extended cab pickup sporting a pair of bedside doors. Presumably, this pickup’s additional access doors would be good for teams of workmen that need to keep some of their belongings dry and protected on the worksite. Or just a parent with a couple of small kids that want to keep the groceries dry, but whose hauling needs aren't adequately addressed by the Honda Ridgeline.

Either way, this could just be a Ford-sponsored show vehicle that was caught testing (and not something with mass-production possibilities), but under the circumstances (noting that there have been concept vehicles from other manufacturers who have used this extended-wheelbase bed storage technique for show vehicles), we can’t help but figure that this thing is legitimate and bound for production.
